New InFocus Series:
Evidence-Based Health Coaching

Is health coaching “pop psychology” or an effective approach for addressing the behavioral factors that are responsible for most chronic disease-related risks and consequences? Can you demonstrate to your leadership and purchasers that you are delivering formal, evidence-based health coaching? In December, HealthSciences Institute released the first issue of our new InFocus series examining popular health coaching programs, evidence-based health coaching foundations, and health coaching interventions that drive better patient and purchaser-level outcomes. This issue includes video segments from a recent Chicago interview with NIH-funded, HealthSciences Institute advisory board member Dr. Susan Butterworth, Associate Professor with Oregon Health Sciences Schools of Medicine and Nursing titled Applying Motivational interviewing in Health Care. We encourage all professionals working in direct health care and population health improvement settings to view InFocus: Evidence-Based Health Coaching and join us as we “raise the bar” on health coaching practice. Each edition of InFocus is approved for one hour of CCP recertification credit. Simply document the issue(s) of InFocus completed when applying for CCP recertification.
