Motivational Interviewing Video Training Series Update HealthSciences Institute continues to update the Chronic Care Professional (CCP) program to support the adaptation and application of traditional MI foundations and techniques to real world health care and health management settings. To that end, we have partnered with our advisory board, as well as external MI and learning experts, to produce the first MI video learning series designed specifically for clinicians who work with patients at risk of, or affected by, chronic conditions. HealthSciences Institute has completed filming sessions in Portland, Chicago and Minneapolis with a panel of MI clinician experts working with real patient volunteers. The video series features expert interviews, full-length vignettes and skill-building segments demonstrating the CCP MI-based five-step behavior change facilitation sequence and other MI practice frameworks designed for health care including RULE. Dr. Blake Andersen, HealthSciences Institute CEO states, “This will be the first video series that targets the daily challenges that clinicians face in the application of MI in phone and face-to-face health care encounters. We enlisted clinicians—from dieticians to nurse practitioners—using MI with real people dealing with real chronic disease and lifestyle issues.” HealthSciences Institute will soon provide CCP enrollees access to the new video series at no cost via the CCP KnowledgeSpace and later offer a DVD for purchase. The new video series will supplement the CCP online MI video library—the largest online MI video library available. Through a special partnership with Dr. Bill Miller’s institution (the University of New Mexico), all CCP enrollees currently have access to the popular MI video training series: Motivational Interviewing: Preparing People for Change with Drs. Miller and Rollnick. < Back to HealthSciences Institute Summer 2010 eNews
